The Tried Equestrian reserves the right to decline any item for resale at our sole discretion. All items must be in very good to new with tags condition (as evaluated by our team).

If an item is deemed unsuitable for resale, we’ll refer to the preferences outlined in your consignment agreement to determine next steps:

• If you’ve selected to have unaccepted items returned, we’ll send you an invoice for return shipping and any packing materials used. We always charge the lowest available market rates.

• If you’ve chosen donation or do not pay the return shipping invoice, all rights to the item are forfeited, and it will be handled at our discretion—this may include donation, recycling, or resale.

Discounting Policy

All items are consigned for a minimum of 180 days (six months). To help ensure a successful sale, The Tried Equestrian reserves the right to apply the following price reductions:

1. 20 % at any time for sitewide or promotional incentives
   
2. 30% off original listing price after 90 days
   
3. 40% off after 120 days
   
4. 50% off after 150 days
   
5. Up to 70% after 180 days to any price we believe will help the item sell
   

Our goal is to strike the right balance between value and visibility to get your items sold.

What Percent Commission Do You Make?

• Consigned items priced by TE at $19.99 & under are ineligible for consignment and will be returned/disposed of according to Section 2 “Unacceptable Items”
• Consignor will receive 20% of sales revenue for sale of a consigned item priced by TE at $20.00-$49.99
• Consignor will receive 40% of sales revenue for sale of a consigned item priced by TE at $50.00--$99.99
• Consignor will receive 50% of sales revenue for sale of a consigned item priced by TE at $100.00-$249.99
• Consignor will receive 60% of sales revenue for sale of a consigned item priced by TE at $250.00 -$499.99
• Consignor will receive 70% of sales revenue for sale of a consigned item priced by TE at $500.00-$999.99
• Consignor will receive 80% of sales revenue for sale of a consigned item priced by TE at $1000.00 or more.

Additional Fees

• $20/ shipment processing fee for shipped consignment kits
• All boots not professionally cleaned are subject to a cleaning fee:  
• Items needing dry cleaning or repairs are billed on a case by case basis.
• Shipping Fees - never to exceed 10% of the sale price including excess shipping weight and free shipping to the customer

How Do You Get Paid? 

At the beginning of the month a check will be sent out with an invoice breakdown. We delay sending payments by one month to accommodate any returns. You are able to check the real-time status of your items in our Consignor Portal

Resale prices often differ from what items originally cost at retail—and that can come as a surprise. By the time a piece reaches the secondary market, it may have already been discounted by the retailer, which lowers the resale value as well.

Beyond that, other factors also impact pricing:

• Market demand may have shifted (what was once a must-have may now be out of style)

• Newer versions or updated designs may have been released

• Wear, use, or missing original packaging can affect value

• Similar items may already be listed in abundance, driving prices down

Our goal is always to price items as competitively as possible to help them sell—while still honoring their value.
